SkinImmune™: A Skin Rash Treatment

If someone asked you which organ you thought was the largest in the body, what would you say? The liver? Maybe the lungs? Well, it’s actually the skin. Skin—including hair, nails, sweat glands, and oil glands—comprise the integumentary system, and one of its main functions is protection. It is the immune system’s first line of defense against foreign invaders such as bacteria, chemicals, and more, which is why it is so important we take as much care of our skin as we can. That’s why we developed our revolutionary skin health system called SkinImmune™.

SkinImmune™ combines cutting-edge diagnostic tools with state-of-the-art treatments to improve not only the health but the look of the integumentary system. From the diagnosis of a skin condition by Dr. Buddiga and his team to treatment and daily care, this system is designed to support you and one of your most precious organs.

Different Kinds of Skin Rashes SkinImmune™ Treats

One of the many skin conditions we treat here at Buddiga Family Allergy | Skin | Immunology is eczema, which is an inflammatory skin condition that causes both itchy and dry skin, rashes, scaly patches, and blisters. More than 31 million Americans today suffer from some form of eczema, and it can develop at just about any age or stage of life. The most common form of eczema is called Atopic dermatitis. This condition is caused by an overactive immune system resulting in uncomfortable itchy and dry skin. Many triggers for this type of eczema can range from household to environmental to allergic reactions and most commonly include long exposure to dry air, different types of soap or body wash, harsh chemicals and cleaners, strong fragrances, and more. There are no known cures for eczema, but we treat each patient’s condition individually and carefully with our SkinImmune™ system to determine the best course of action.

Another skin condition we see often and treat with SkinImmune™ is hives, which show up as red, itchy welts caused by a skin reaction. Just like eczema, there are several types of hives, but the most common is called Acute Urticaria. These typically last fewer than six weeks and are caused by food, medication, infection, and occasionally insect bites. Chronic Urticaria is a type of hives that lasts more than six weeks and is much more difficult to pinpoint the true cause. However, it is believed that this chronic condition may be caused by thyroid disease, hepatitis, infection, or cancer. Using our SkinImmune™ system, our team can work with you to determine if you are suffering from hives and which treatment plan is best for you.

Angioedema is a third very common and treatable skin condition we see at our practice. Angioedema is swelling that develops underneath the skin of the face, hands, feet, and genitalia as well as the lining of the throat and bowel. It is often accompanied by hives as a result of an allergic reaction. Insect bites, pollen hereditary genetic etiology, poison oak or ivy, latex, and animal dander are a few common causes, and whether you suffer from food, chemical, or environmental reactions, we conduct in-depth testing to determine if Angioedema is what you are in fact suffering from and how best to treat your symptoms.

What Are Skin Rashes Caused By?

Each skin condition has its own unique causes. Some are not due to any underlying disease, others are caused by contact with a certain substance, such as a food you ate that resulted in a reaction or flare-up, an allergy to something in your environment, or many other causes. The important thing to know is that we are here to get to the bottom of your skin condition and what the underlying root cause of it is, not simply treat the symptoms.

Why Is SkinImmune™ the Best Treatment for Skin Rashes

Now that we know a bit more about common skin conditions, let’s dive into what exactly the SkinImmune™ system is and how it can work for you. Dr. Buddiga created SkinImmune™ as a way to consider the skin and immune system in all its magnificent complexity.

Diagnosis: The first step in the system is diagnosis. Dr. Buddiga takes the time to examine all the factors that may influence your health and the health of your skin. To do this, he will conduct a physical examination that includes complex testing: skin allergen, blood, and genetic. Once he determines your condition, he’ll move right into a treatment plan.

Treatment: And because each patient is unique, so are the treatment plans. While you may have the same diagnosis as another patient, your treatment could look very different. Each treatment may include a topical, oral, or injected medication. Once the skin has responded favorably to treatment, it is time for enhancement.

Enhancement: SkinImmune™ Enhancement begins with another consultation with Dr. Buddiga. He’ll discuss aesthetic and anti-aging goals, among others, and work with you 1:1 to help you design and implement a treatment plan that may include plasma skin resurfacing, laser hair removal, dermal and lip fillers, facial neuromodulators, etc.

Daily Care: The final step in the system is daily care. We all know aging is unavoidable, and skin is one of the most obvious signs of that process, but our SkinImmune™ Daily Care can help slow and reverse those signs for a more radiant look. Dr. Buddiga will be ready to prescribe a regimen of skin care products tailored to your needs that can reduce the effects of photodamage and extend the aesthetic benefits of the SkinImmune™ Enhancement.
