Allergy reactions often strike at the most inopportune times. Knowing what can cause a reaction, employing preventative measures and having treatments on hand specific to your needs can help ensure you and your family continue to live every day to its fullest.
When an allergen has entered the body, the body defends itself by releasing a chemical called histamine, which can result in common reactions like sneezing, a runny nose, watery eyes, or in more severe cases – hives, difficulty breathing and anaphylaxis. Allergies can be seasonal and can also happen year-round, depending on its cause.
Dr. Buddiga places family first. He opened his clinic after recognizing a general gap in care and compassionate understanding for people suffering from allergies, asthma, immune and skin conditions. This led him to impart unprecedented levels of diagnostic evaluation and early intervention treatments to help every child or adult he meets live a healthier fulfilling life.
Some allergic reactions can be life threatening, so it’s always best to proactively test yours or your child’s immune reactions in order to be prepared. Life-threatening reactions are typically marked by hives, soft tissue swelling, difficulty breathing or a severe drop in blood pressure.
If you or a member of your family has an extreme adverse reaction, always seek prompt and immediate medical attention or call 911 immediately.
You may have saved their (or your) life.
Allergic rhinitis can occur seasonally or year-round. Identifying and knowing your triggers can help ease the severity with prevention, treatment and ongoing management.
Food allergies are constantly on the increase as the food we consume is continually being processed as well as genetically modified for mass consumption. With early identification and provision of treatment management plans, you can continue to be confident your family is safe from potential threats.
Whether you suffer from a reaction to foods, chemicals or the environment, we can often diagnose the allergy with scratch or patch testing. Scratch tests assess allergies to foods, stinging insects and airborne allergens by scratching the surface of the skin with a few drops of purified allergen. Patch tests can identify allergies to skin irritants like cosmetics and chemicals by applying the allergen directly to a patch of skin. If a delayed reaction occurs in the next 72 hours, we can identify the culprit allergen and recommend the best course of treatment for your allergies.
We perform nasal endoscopies for various sinus symptoms. After spraying local anesthetic on the area, a small fiber optic camera is eased into the nasal passage. The camera enables us to examine and diagnose visible conditions affecting the nasal passages, sinuses, throat and vocal cords as well as to evaluate any polyps. A small amount of fluid may be collected to test for abnormal microorganism growth, so we can prescribe the best treatment for relief.
Our oral drops are an easy and effective solution to the challenge of managing pediatric allergies this Spring. Oral drops build up immune tolerance to the antigen or substance(s) that cause allergies. Sublingual immunotherapy (drops that dissolve under the tongue) are as effective as shots, and can conveniently be taken at home. This solution may be ideal for parents with young children, and/or anyone interested in applying easy, in-home allergy solutions without injections.
Allergies triggered by animals, dust, mold, pollen or stinging insects, respond well to shots. Typically, shots for allergies are administered over the course of several weeks. These shots contain a tiny amount of the allergen – which is uniquely created for your body’s needs, through a series of skin tests. The body will then build up antibodies, which prevent allergic reactions. Within the short time span of a few months, patients with these types of allergies have shown dramatic improvement. Shots for allergies are also effective in showing improvement amongst patients with asthma as well.
Allergic reactions that cause swelling first begin with severe flaring and inflammation. Our shots for swelling regime help to prevent the flare ups by fighting the body’s response to allergens through medications, such as: Firazyr, Cinryze, Berinert and Kalbitor. Angioedema-related swelling is a sort of rash that is similar to hives, but it occurs underneath the skin. It can be a hereditary condition, however, our shots can reduce these symptoms for patients, and help to treat the problem before it starts
There are a variety of medications available for treating the symptoms of allergies, but Dr. Buddiga is most interested in helping relieve his patients from a long-term effectiveness point of view. Dr. Buddiga makes this possible by offering shots for allergies, oral drops for allergies and shots for swelling to his patients. These preventative treatment plans are helpful in fighting against allergic reactions to substances such as common house dust mites, grass pollens, and insect stings – just to name a few. Integrative allergy treatments also improve symptoms for patients suffering from asthma. Dr. Buddiga provides integrative allergy treatment near Fresno, CA, through medications uniquely calibrated to fight against a variety of allergens that thrive in the area.
Treating allergies in children can be particularly challenging, but Dr. Buddiga has a number of treatments for parents struggling to find solutions that stick. Your child may suffer from allergies if you notice seasonal stuffy nose, red and itchy eyes, a seasonal cough, or even dark circles under their eyes. These symptoms can begin to present themselves as early as age 1 and through age 3. Rashes and hives are also symptoms of pediatric allergies. As children get older, allergic reactions may lessen by age 8, but some kids can suffer from allergies until age 16 or on through adulthood.
Allergies in children may seem more severe as it is very common to “grow out” of allergies for up to two decades following our teens. Many people struggle with allergies on a seasonal basis, while others may be triggered by some common everyday allergens, including: pollen, nuts, shellfish and animal dander. Allergy medications, such as pills, eyedrops, nasal sprays and even skin creams are available to alleviate symptoms, however, Dr. Buddiga can help you make the best decision in treating your child’s allergies with results that begin now.
Allergies to trees such as Olive tree, Sycamore, Juniper, Elm & Oak.
Allergies to grass such as Bermuda, Fescue, Perennial Rye, Timothy & Kentucky Bluegrass
Allergies to Short / Long Ragweed and Nettle are also observed in the Fall/ Autumn season.
Allergy shots help your body develop a natural resistance to allergens by strengthening immunity against the effects of tree, grass, weed pollen, dust mites, animal dander, mold and stinging insects.
You may benefit from allergy shots if you:
Most insurance plans cover the cost of medicine preparation and weekly shot administration. Some insurances cover a significant portion of the cost; however some plans may require a copayment or deductible to be met. This is dependent on your insurance plan.
We highly recommend you contact your insurance plan to learn more about your benefits. As a courtesy we usually do our best to confirm service coverage with your insurance provider and give you an estimated cost before any commitment to allergy shot treatment.
Yes, allergy shots are very effective in children because treatment is proven to prevent the development of new allergies and asthma as well as stabilization and improved control of these conditions. Allergy shots are typically started after a child reaches five years of age, but they may be started earlier on a case-by-case basis.
Yes, allergy shots are typically safe. A minor reaction may happen at the injection site, which usually improves with time. The risk of a severe allergic reaction is rare but possible and may include a serious, life-threatening reaction. The reaction typically responds immediately to epinephrine when injected in a timely fashion, therefore we kindly request you wait for 30 minutes after every injection and let us know immediately if you are having any problems so that we may assist as quickly as possible. We also recommend you use the restroom prior to your injection. Your safety is our greatest priority, which is why we follow strict preventive safety measures.
Yes, since asthma is primarily an allergic problem, a regular shot regimen in addition to your regular maintenance inhaler should significantly help control this condition, resulting in a healthy and productive lifestyle with less school and work time loss.
Allergy shots have also been FDA approved for skin eczema control and allergic eyes, due to triggers like pollen, dust and pet allergen.
Yes, we offer oral allergy drops that can be administered daily from the comfort of your home, underneath the tongue to achieve similar results. This treatment is not covered by insurances due to lack of FDA approval and is currently an out-of-pocket expense. Although it is used extensively in Europe & Canada with excellent results, more clinical studies are needed in the United States.

Most asthma attacks are short-term, lasting minutes to hours and may be fatal if not controlled in a timely manner. Dr. Buddiga’s goal is to help you achieve optimal control of your asthma.
